This is our Story...

In 1957, Herman started Specialty Carburetor Corporation in Los Angeles, California.  Later, he opened Carburetor Exchange for his son, David, near South El Monte.  Herman always said, “When you’re making money, business is good.”

As Herman filled his pockets with cash, a young man named Joe worked for Frank’s Carburetors.  After Frank’s, he moved to Industrial Carburetor near Atlantic Boulevard.  Later, he opened  Carburetor Center in South El Monte with his brother.  Due to disagreements, they parted ways, and Joe moved Carburetor Center north to El Monte.  Meanwhile, Herman merged Specialty Carburetor Corporation with Carburetor Exchange, and was now known solely as Carburetor Exchange.

As time passed, David pursued education, becoming a successful psychologist in Huntington Beach.  David spent time with clients while Herman was in charge of the business.  Herman neared retirement age and grew weary of working.  
One day, Herman got into a bind and needed some carburetor parts.  He stopped by Carburetor Center to buy some parts and built a close friendship with Joe over time. 

Later, Herman’s wife grew ill, and Herman sold Carburetor Exchange to Joe in 2011.  Joe kept the name Carburetor Exchange and reverted to Carburetor Center in 2018.
Today, Herman is living out his retirement days in Anaheim, California, while David is still at his practice, and Joe is still the proprietor of Carburetor Center.

Today, we ship carburetors worldwide.  Rochester, Carter, Aisan, Stromberg, Zenith, Holley, Solex, and Hitachi are just a few brands we remanufacture and sell globally.  Herman and Joe obtained millions of carburetors and parts over the years.  We provide carburetors for cars and trucks such as Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, American Motors, Studebaker, International Harvester, Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Willys, Datsun, and more.
